JUNE ’17 WRAP-UP

Hello everyone! I hope you guys are enjoying the summer heat way more than I am lol. The month of June has been super busy for me with fasting for Ramadan and then celebrating Eid with my family, I haven’t really sat down to read as much as I normally do. I have also, unfortunately, experienced one of the worst reading slumps *yawns* and reached out to watching food shows or going out to avoid reading (don’t judge me). Regardless of the reading slump, all of the 5 books I read this June were either rated 4 or 5 stars so that’s pretty great on my account! Let’s get started then, shall we! 😀

PS. The layout for this wrap-up is going to be different yet again. I really want to make this a lot more shorter and simpler so I’ll just add a few thoughts to the books I’ve read 🙂

PPS. With the reading slump (here we go with the excuse again, Maram), I’ve only managed to write two full reviews this month *yikes*. I’ll try to write others and put them up soon.

Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland

Our Chemical Hearts

My rating: 5+++ stars

My review: click here

I can’t recommend this book enough! It was everything I wanted in a hard-hitting contemporary, if not more! Pick it up for witty references, quirky romance and the greatest friendship/family kinda story.

Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia

Eliza and Her Monsters

My rating: 5/5 stars

My review: click here

I did not expect to love this way more than I do especially after a let-down with Geekerella. The characters in this novel are super relatable and it made my little fandom heart giddy. Pick it up for internet friends, THE CUTEST ROMANCE, adventure, and an amazing display of family relationships.

The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury

The Forbidden Wish (The Forbidden Wish, #1)

My rating: 4/5 stars

This is the COOLEST and only Aladdin retelling I’ve read till date! I loved each and every character in this book, they all seemed badass especially the female group. The twists in this novel may be expected but it was done very neatly and it was such a fun ride! Pick it up for Aladdin *duh*, swoony romance, a jinni like you’ve never read about before, and kickass secondary characters.

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer, #1)

My rating: 5+++ stars

This book left me speechless! It has a unique concept and it’s so refreshing. The political intrigue left me shook because of how relatable it is to our world right now! JUST. PICK. IT. UP.

Roar by Cora Carmack

Roar (Stormheart, #1)

My rating: 4.5?/5 stars

I recently finished reading this and it has to be the wackiest concept I’ve ever read in a YA book and I mean that in a good way lol. Pick it up if you want: to constantly be mindblown, cool magic system, slightly angsty romance, and an interesting set of characters. Also, where’s book 2 because that ending was cruel???

That’s all for today guys! :’) So, was it a good reading month for you? How many books have you read this month and are any of them listed on my wrap-up? Comment your thoughts down below 🙂

Thank you for checking out this post, I hope that you all have a lovely day and a very happy reading! ❤

    I actually went through an awful reading slump earlier this year as well – you’re not alone, Maram! 😀 We own Eliza and Her Monsters, and I really would like to read that. Also, Strange the Dreamer has been popping up all over the place, but I don’t want to start another series (yet). I’m glad you enjoyed the books you read this month. 😊

      OH GOSH AND IT’S FOR A GOOD REASON!!! I want you to read this asap but at the same time, the ending was just ashjdgsdjhgf and book 2 isn’t going to be released anytime soon so wait it out? xD

        Yes, I’ve heard that it’s near perfection. I’ll try to read it soon. *crosses fingers*
        Hahahahahahahahahahaha! I think you just made my day. 🙂 You’re funny, Maram. I think I will wait it out, but I will read it at some point. I’m glad you loved it so much, though. It’s the mark of a good author when they can effect us so much with just one book. Or two. Or seven…
