Burn, Rewrite, Reread – Book Tag

I was tagged by Danielle from @lifeofaliterarynerd a loooong time ago, I’m so sorry for being a lazyass.  Her blog is amazing, I guarantee that you’ll find some great books from her content to add to your TBR! The goal in this tag is to randomize your Goodreads “read” shelf, pick the first three books, and state some opinions about them. Let the fun begin!!

Round 1

BurnBy Your Side by Kasie West. I had high expectations for this and was sort of let down by how cheesy it was. Despite that, I read it in two sittings as it was fast-paced.

RewriteOpal by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I remember being super addicted to this series and it got me into really enjoying YA when I was just 14 years old. I’m not sure how I’d feel about it if I were to reread it but at the same time, I do feel like it would be awesome if this series was re-written for new readers to enjoy (if they find it cliché)

RereadTalking as Fast as I can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls, and Everything in Between by Lauren Graham. I audio booked this back in March and it was just super fun and inspirational!

Round 2

Burn: Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. I remember enjoying the start of this book as it felt exciting but the plot twist ended up being predictable and the romance was too cheesy for me so it was just an average read for me :/

RewriteThe Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh. I adored this book and would place it under “reread” if Shadow and Bone wasn’t included in this round. It’s a retelling of 1001 nights and I remember loving the story when I studied about it in an Arabic heritage course in uni. The Wrath and the Dawn kept me on my toes from start to end.

Reread: Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. This is one of my favorite reads of 2017, it was dark and all around lovely, if that makes sense? so, I wouldn’t mind rereading it in the future :’)

Round 3

BurnFallen by Lauren Kate. it was a cringefest.

RewriteThe Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. I’m aware that this a classical favorite but I would have liked it a lot more if the narrator of this book were less whiny. All in all, it’s a good coming of age story.

RereadAdulthood Is a Myth by Sarah Andersen. This is by far my favorite realistic graphic novel ever. I was giggling nonstop and just everything about it somehow made me feel really good about myself :’)

Round 4

BurnSparrow by L.J. Shen. I gave this 4/5 stars on Goodreads but I don’t remember why tbh. I just remember about it being about a mafia and that there is some dark romance but I could be wrong and well, I just don’t think that I’ll ever reread this.

Rewrite: November 9 by Colleen Hoover. I gave this 5/5 stars on Goodreads during my Hoover’s bingefest but I didn’t realize the trigger that this book kinda inflicts… I’m not even sure how to address this situation. If you’re interested, you can find some really thought-provoking reviews about it on Goodreads.

RereadThe Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin. I don’t remember a thing about this series other than loving it and now with Noah’s book coming soon, I have an excuse to reread the entire series :’)

Round 5

BurnTwisted Palace by Erin Watt. Even though I rated this 4/5 stars on Goodreads, I’ve come to a realization that while the angst and the drama was great in the first book, it dragged in the middle of book 2 all the way to book 3. So, yikes.

RewriteThe Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn. I don’t remember much about this book but I do remember enjoying the romance between our two main characters. The writing in this was also a little dull.

RereadArcher’s Voice by Mia Sheridan. I read this book twice and loved it just the same if not even more! I went into this book blindly and ah, it was such an emotional and beautiful read!

Again, I apologize for this tag coming like 5 years too late so for those who already posted theirs, please don’t feel pressured to do it again! ^^

This tag sounds like a lot of fun! I loved reading all of your answers. I really need to reread The Evolution of Mara Dyer as well. I just stumbled upon your blog, and I’m greatly enjoying its content!

I’m new to blogging and book reviewing, and I was wondering if you had any tips for newbie bloggers and book reviewers.

If you have the time, please check out my blog @breenysbooks. I’d love any feedback. Have a wonderful day.
